Book with confidence - New and flexible booking terms for ICELAND
At Nordic Visitor, we are enthusiastically looking forward to summer and, as always, welcoming travellers from around the world to our beautiful country. Despite the temporary air-space closures and subsequent flight delays due to the volcanic ash, we are still open for business here in Iceland and the “Ring Road” is open to traffic as usual.
We want you to be confident about your holiday plans, and in light of the recent flight disruptions, we have decided to offer our customers new and flexible booking terms and an optional “Volcanic Ash Insurance Coverage”. These terms apply to bookings for Iceland made between May 1, 2010 to July 15 2010 for arrivals between May 1, 2010 and September 30, 2010.
The new terms are as follows:
• Fully refundable deposits:
Should you decide to cancel your holiday, you will get your full deposit back as long as the cancellation is made 4 weeks prior to your planned arrival date .
• You will not lose any of your money:
Our standard cancellation terms apply, but under the new terms, you may use all non-refundable payments for cancelled tours as a down-payment for a new holiday to any of our destinations. Effectively, none of your money will be lost in the unfortunate event of having to cancel your holiday at any given time.
• Change your dates or destinations:
You may change your travel dates up until your expected time of arrival, no questions asked. Moreover, until this time, you may also cancel your holiday to Iceland and use your payment to travel to any of our other Nordic destinations instead. Either of these changes may be done once to the original booking.
• Flight delays to Iceland? No worries!:
If your flight to Iceland gets delayed, we will adjust your itinerary accordingly, at no extra charge, and give you a refund of payments for unused services.
• New itinerary within hours:
If your holiday in Iceland gets interrupted because of volcanic activity we will refund any service that we are unable to provide and create a new exciting itinerary for you at no extra charge, enabling you to enjoy your holiday without a worry.
„Volcanic Ash Insurance Coverage“
We are offering our customers who buy a package holiday an insurance against flight delay due to volcanic ash. The cost of the insurance is 2000 ISK per person.
In the unlikely event that you will be delayed for more than 12 hours while leaving Iceland at the end of your holiday, and the delay is due to travel restrictions imposed by authorities in Iceland or in the countries you are travelling to, because of volcanic activity, the insurance covers any reasonable unplanned- for costs incurred for additional accommodation and travel expenses.
The amount paid in this event will be 10000 ISK per person for every 12 hours you are delayed because of a volcanic activity, with a maximum payment of 100000 ISK per person.
When registering a claim you will only need to provide documents verifying your valid booking of a flight from Iceland and its expected departure time, as well as proof for your flights actual departure time after a delay caused by Volcanic Ash.
The insurance is on sale between 1 May and 15 June 2010 and covers any arrival dates.
These costs surpass the basic accommodation and food costs that airlines are responsible for under EU regulation 261. Click here for further information about EU regulation 261.
