This guided group tour will take you exploring the surreal natural beauty of the South Coast. An experienced professional guide will take you to Iceland’s most beautiful gems and introduce you to the nation’s history, culture and way of life. You will see places such as Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss, Geysir, Landmannalaugar, Skaftafell National Park and the glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón. Our groups are relatively small, driving distances per day are moderate and accommodation is in well-equipped tourist class hotels, all offering en-suite facilities.
Day 1: Arrival
Arrival in Keflavík and meet and greet followed by transportation to your hotel in Reykjavík. After settling into the hotel you will have free time to explore the city on your own. In the afternoon/evening there will be a short information meeting with your guide.
Day 2: Gullfoss - Geysir
The first leg of the journey takes you to one of the most well known area, The Golden Circle. The drive includes stops at some of the best-known natural phenomena in Iceland including Þingvellir National Park, the great Geysir area and Gullfoss. Overnight stay in Flúðir area.
Day 3: Landmannalaugar
Today we will experience the highlands of Iceland visiting the other-worldly Landmannalaugar. Enjoy the surreal colours and surroundings, and take a bath in the natural hot pools. We will continue to the Eldgjá fissure system and take a one-hour hike to the waterfall Ófærufoss, one of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls. Overnight in Kirkjubæjarklaustur area.
Day 4: South-East Iceland
We spend the morning exploring the beautiful Skaftafell area with its many interesting hiking trails. On we go to the breathtaking glacial lagoon Jökulsárlón where you can take a boat ride among the floating icebergs. Return to hotel in Kirkjubæjarklaustur area for overnight stay.
Day 5: The South Coast
Today we will head back to Reykjavík driving the South coast. We start the day by driving to the village of Vík and the volcanic beach south of the village. From there you can view the rock formations Dyrhólaey and Reynisdrangar. We will continue to Skogarfoss waterfall and visit the Skogar Folk Museum. Onwards to Seljalandsfoss waterfall before continuing to Reykjavík for an overnight stay. NOTE! Dyrholaey is closed from middle of May till June 23rd during nesting season.
Day 6: Departure
Fly bus transport to Keflavík Airport.
