This family package gives you the opportunity to kick back and enjoy a relaxing time with your family in a summer cottage on the south coast of Iceland. The south coast offers innumerable opportunities for outdoor activities and family attractions, as well as varied scenery and stunning natural beauty.
Day 1: Welcome to Reykjavík
On arrival in Keflavík Airport, you will be met by your private chauffeur who will transfer you to your hotel in Reykjavík. If you arrive early, you will have the opportunity to explore the city centre at your leisure. Stay in the heart of Reykjavík.
Highlights: Reykjavik.
Day 2: The Golden Circle
You will start the day by receiving your rental car. Today, take in some of the best-known natural phenomena in Iceland including Þingvellir National Park, the two-tiered Gullfoss waterfall, the great Geysir area and the Kerið implosion crater. You might want to visit the Slakki family petting zoo at Laugarás and get to know the Icelandic farm animals before heading to your cosy cottage in the south-west. Driving distance approx. 150km.
Highlights: Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss, Geysir, Slakki and Kerið.
Day 3: South Shore Comfort
Take it easy and enjoy the pristine nature and tranquillity that rural south Iceland has to offer. There are several interesting hiking trails close to the cottage and horse-rentals in the area. Visit Stokkseyri, where you will find a museum dedicated to trolls, elves and Northern Lights, “Þuríðarbúð” – turf-hut in which fishermen lived and a local swimming-pool where you can enjoy local hospitality and be served refreshments in the hot-tubs! You can explore the nature by kayaking with the whole family around the lakes and marshes. Experiencing a gourmet meal at the local, fantastic seafood restaurant, is ideal in the afternoon. The charming, tiny village of Eyrarbakki is also worth a visit with its large number of preserved houses from 1890-1920 and a walk on the beautiful beach by the village is highly recommended. Activities such as Quad-Biking can easily be arranged for the more adventurous. Driving distance approx 150km.
Highlights: Stokkseyri and Eyrarbakki.
Day 4: Waterfalls and Wildlife
Visit the graceful Seljalandsfoss, experience walking right behind the flowing water and feel the light drizzle. You might wish to take a dip into Seljavellir pool; a unique geothermal swimming-pool built into a mountainside. Continue to the 60 metre free-falling Skógafoss waterfalls in Skógar, where you will also find a folk museum with many interesting artefacts on display. Experience the stunning black volcanic sand beach south of Vík and the Dyrhólaey and Reynisdrangar rock formations. At Mýrdalsjökull, you will have the opportunity to experience a guided glacial hike (optional). Head back to your cosy cottage, where you will stay the night. Driving distance approx.300km.

Hekla, to Stöng, a reconstruction of a Viking farmhouse that was devastated by the 1104 eruption of Mt. Hekla. Þjórsárdalur offers a variety of natural beauty, with many impressive waterfalls such as Háifoss (122 m) at the head of the valley, Hjálparfoss at the mouth of the valley, and Gjárfoss, one of the attractions of Gjáin, a beautiful unspoiled gorge accessible on foot from Stöng. For those looking for action, it is possible to go Quad Biking in the amazing highland area (optional). Head back to Reykjavik where you will have the afternoon at your leisure to explore the city centre and perhaps do some last-minute shopping or optional whale watching tour when in season. Driving distance approx. 150km.
