Introduction

This exciting golf package gives you the opportunity to experience some of the best golf courses in Iceland as well as many of the country’s biggest attractions. The tour includes sites such as Þingvellir National Park, the great Geysir area, Skaftafell National Park, Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon, Ásbyrgi Canyon and more.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival/Reykjavík
Upon arrival, you will be met by your private chauffeur, who will transfer you from Keflavík Airport to your hotel in Reykjavík. Take the rest of the day to explore the city centre by foot and enjoy dining out at one of Reykjavik’s excellent restaurants. Stay overnight in Reykjavík.

Day 2: Reykjavik & Lava Golf Challenge

After you receive your rental car you will head to Keilir golf course, only ten minutes drive from Reykjavik, is right on the ocean and is one of Iceland´s most spectacular and unique golf courses. What makes this course unique is that it is built into a lava field with astounding ocean view. The course offers an 18-hole championship course (par 71) and a 9-hole “practice” course. A beautiful new clubhouse was built in 1993 overlooking the courses with a view over the Atlantic Ocean, all the way across the bay to the Snaefellsjökull Glacier on a clear day. It is ideal to drive to the Blue lagoon for some relaxing soak after the golfing before you head back to your hotel in Reykjavik. Stay overnight in Reykjavík. Driving distance approx. 90km.

Day 3: Geysir, Gullfoss Waterfall and Golfing

Take in some of the best known attractions in the south of Iceland. Visit the unique Þingvellir National Park; listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List and a site of immense beauty and history. Head to the great Geysir area and explore the bubbling mud pots, geysers before arriving at the stunning two-tiered Gullfoss waterfall. Then you might wish to head to Kiðjaberg golf course where you will enjoy an afternoon golf time on a 9-hole (par 70) golf course. Stay overnight in a hotel, guesthouse or cottage in the Selfoss/Hekla area. Driving distance approx. 250km.

Day 4: Waterfalls, glacier and golfing

Start the day at the 18-hole golf course at Hella (par70), before exploring the scenic south coast on your way to Kirkjubæjarklaustur, where you will stay overnight. Stops include the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, the folk museum at Skógar, the Saga Centre in Hvolsvöllur, glacier Mýrdalsjökull and the black volcanic beach by Vík. Driving distance approx. 200km.

Day 5: Vatnajökull National Park

Explore Skaftafell, a part of Vatnajökull National Park and a place of great beauty with many interesting hiking trails, including a short one to the beautiful Svartifoss waterfall. one of the most beautiful places in Iceland. After visiting Skaftafell, stop at the extremely picturesque Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon where you can take a boat ride during summer-time. Stay at Höfn on the southeast corner, overnight. Driving distance approx. 200km.

Day 6: Golf and Tranquil Fjords

Start the day by playing golf at the Höfn 9-hole golf course (par 70) before driving to the town of Egilsstaðir in the scenic eastern fjords, where you will stay overnight. Attractions such as the imposing Mt. Búlandstindur, Petra's Mineral Collection in Stöðvarfjörður and the monster habitat Lagarfljót River can be visited on the way. Driving distance approx. 260km.

Day 7: Lake Mývatn

Drive to Lake Mývatn, a drive characterised by rugged tundra and sweeping landscapes. Continue to the amazing Lake Mývatn area, where you will see the volcano Krafla, the curiously coloured Námaskarð pass, the massive crater of Hverfell and the lunar-like pseudo-craters at Skútustaðir. Stay in a hotel in Lake Mývatn area. Driving distance approx. 170km.

Day 8: Lake Mývatn and Jökulsárgljúfur National Park

Explore the surroundings of Lake Mývatn. You can start the day with an optional whale-watching trip from ‘the whale watching capital of Europe’, Húsavík. Then, you can drive through the wonderful Jökulsárgljúfur - a part of Vatnajökull National Park, visiting sites such as the canyon Ásbyrgi and the most powerful waterfall in Europe, Dettifoss. An ideal ending of the day is to end the day by relaxing in the Mývatn Nature Baths and enjoy bathing in a pool of geothermal water drawn from depths of up to 2,500 meters. Stay the night in the Lake Mývatn area. Driving distance approx. 200km.

Day 9: Akureyri – the World’s most northerly 18-hole golf course

Drive to Akureyri, the “Capital of Northern Iceland”, and spend the day playing at the Akureyri Golf course 18- hole (par 71). The “Arctic Open”, an increasingly popular international tournament, is held at the Akureyri golf course every year near the end of June. Head to Skagafjörður where you will stay for the night. Driving distance approx. 200km.

Day 10: Akureyri to Reykjavik
Drive back to Reykjavík. Sights along the way include Deildartunguhver, the largest hot spring in Europe; the beautiful Hraunfossar lava waterfalls and the historic site of Reykholt. End the day by playing golf in the evening at Nesvöllur in the city of Reykjavik, where you will stay overnight. Driving distance approx. 320km.

Day 11: Departure

Private Transfer to Keflavik airport. If your flight is in the afternoon, you can stop at the Blue Lagoon and even take a little tour of the Reykjanes peninsula (not included).
