This wide-ranging city break takes you to all four corners of Iceland to witness some of the country’s most incredible highlights. Enjoy an adventurous week in the capital city, including sightseeing flights and guided day tours to visit waterfalls and geothermal wonders in the southwest, a world-famous glacial lagoon in the southeast, lunar landscapes in the northeast and awe-inspiring nature in the remote West Fjords of north-western Iceland.
Day 1: Welcome to Reykjavík
Upon arrival to Keflavik Airport, you are greeted by our driver who will take you to your accommodation in Reykjavík. After settling in, spend the rest of the day exploring the capital area’s attractions, including museums, naturally-heated pools and spas, Icelandic design shops, scenic surroundings, and much more. You also have your pick of superb restaurants and cafés in downtown Reykjavik along with a variety of bars and nightclubs if you wish to take part in the legendary Reykjavík nightlife. Spend the next six nights at a comfortable hotel or guesthouse in the heart of the city.

Day 2: The Golden Circle by 4x4
Visit some of Iceland´s most popular natural attractions on the “Golden Circle” route with a sensational Super Jeep tour! Highlights of this route include Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Geysir geothermal area with the frequently-erupting Strokkur geyser, and beautiful Gullfoss, considered the pinnacle of Icelandic waterfalls. Finally, our mighty jeeps rumble through the rugged highlands to Langjökull glacier, Europe’s second largest, where our professional guide shows us spectacular glacial scenery that is off-limits to all but those in sturdy off-road vehicles!
Highlights: Þingvellir, Gullfoss, Geysir, Strokkur, and Langjökull glacier.
Day 3: Glacial Wonders
From Reykjavik Airport, we fly east to Höfn, a peaceful harbour town near the massive Vatnajökull glacier. From there, we head to Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, where white and aqua-blue icebergs calved from the glacier float peacefully in the crystal clear water. Here we will embark on an exciting excursion by boat, zigzagging between oddly-shaped icebergs with possible sightings of seals. Our next stop is to the base of Vatnajökull for an exciting guided snowmobile tour on the glacier. Surrounded by snow and ice as far as the eye can see, you will be awe-struck by the immensity of this remarkable environment.
Highlights: Höfn, Vatnajökull glacier, and Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon.
Day 4: Moon-like Mývatn
The day begins with a short flight to Akureyri for a day of sightseeing in North Iceland. From Akureyri, we make a stop to the twin waterfalls of Goðafoss before continuing on to our destination, the Lake Mývatn area, where lunar landscapes and unique geology dominate the scenery. After enjoying some refreshments at noon, we pay a visit to some volcanic sites, including the Krafla caldera, and then to the steaming Hverarönd geothermal area, famous for its bubbling mud pots and vivid sulphur deposits. Finally, we end our day tour with a walk at mythical Dimmuborgir (“Dark Castles”), a surreal lava field with bizarre rock formations and rock pillars that form a virtual labyrinth.
Highlights: Akureyri, Goðafoss, Mývatn, Dimmuborgir, Hverarönd and Krafla volcano.
Day 5: Freedom to Explore

You may also be interested in a hike in Reykjavik’s natural surroundings, such as Grótta in Seltjarnarnes, the lush Laugardalur valley, or the peaceful forested area of Öskjuhlíðin near Perlan (“The Pearl”).
