Day 1: Welcome to Reykjavik
Upon arrival in Keflavik, you will be met by your private chauffeur who will welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation in Reykjavík. After settling in, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the vibrant capital at you own pace. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavík.

Day 2: The Highland Interior, Gullfoss and Geysir
Climb into your rental car and head out to the rural countryside. Head to Þingvellir National Park before experiencing some of the best-known natural phenomena in Iceland: the great Geysir and Gullfoss waterfall. Then traverse the Kjölur highland road between the glaciers Langjökull and Hofsjökull to Hveravellir, a high-temperature geothermal area. There you can find stunning landscapes off the beaten track, interesting hot springs and even take a bath in one. Stay in the Varmahlíð area. Driving distance approx. 335km.
Highlights: Þingvellir National Park, Geysir area, Gullfoss, Kjölur, Hveravellir.
Day 3: North Iceland
Drive to Akureyri, the friendly ‘capital of north Iceland’ and visit the beautiful Goðafoss waterfall on the way to Lake Mývatn. Explore the surroundings of the tranquil Lake Mývatn. Sights include the boiling mud-pots at Námafjall, the pseudo craters at Skútustaðir, the lava maze Dimmuborgir and the Krafla Volcano to name a few. Taking a dip and relaxing in the healing waters of “Mývatn Nature Baths” and experience bathing in a pool of geothermal water drawn from depths of up to 2,500 meters is the perfect way to end the day. Stay overnight in the area of Lake Mývatn. Driving distance approx. 220km.

Day 4: Lake Mývatn and surroundings
Explore the surroundings of Lake Mývatn. You can enjoy the wildlife on a whale-watching tour from Húsavík on an oak fishing boat (excluded). Go to Jökulsárgljúfur National Park, where you will find the canyon Ásbyrgi, Hljóðaklettar, the Hverfell crater, Hólmatungur and of course Dettifoss—the most powerful waterfall in Europe. Stay overnight around Lake Mývatn. Driving distance approx. 210km.
Highlights: Húsavík, Jökulsárgljúfur, Ásbyrgi and Dettifoss.
Optional activities: Whale Watching from Húsavík.
Day 5: Northeast Highlands
Take the mountain road along the glacier river Jökulsá á Fjöllum to Mt. Herðubreið, ‘the queen of the wilderness’. Herðubreiðarlindir, an oasis on the edge of the Ódáðahraun lava field should not be missed. The huge caldera of Askja, home of Lake Öskjuvatn, is a short drive away, and there you will also find the explosion crater Víti, which is partly filled with hot water. Stay overnight in Möðrudalur valley or Egilsstaðir area. Driving distance approx. 270km.
Highlights: Mt. Herðubreið, Herðubreiðarlindir, Ódáðahraun lava field, Askja, Víti.
Day 6: The East Fjords
Drive south through the rugged and picturesque eastern fjords. Visit Sænautasel in Möðrudalur valley (the highland), a living turf-house museum where you can enjoy coffee and refreshments. On the way it is ideal to make a stop at one of the stunning beaches by Þvottárskriður. Overnight in Höfn area. Driving distance approx. 340km.
Highlights: Sænautasel, Egilsstaðir, Hallormsstaður forest, waterfall Hengifoss, Lagarfljót River, Mt. Búlandstindur, Petra´s Mineral Collection and Höfn.
Optional activities: Glacier walk/ice climbing from Skaftafell, kayaking, boat ride on Jökulsárlón and hey-cart bird-watching tour.
Day 7: Glacier Lagoon and Vatnajökull National Park
Head south to the picturesque Glacial Lagoon Jökulsárlón, where you can take an amazing boat ride between the icebergs floating on the lake. Spend the rest of the day exploring some of the wonders of Skaftafell, a part of Vatnajökull Skaftafell National Park, the largest National Park in Europe. There are many interesting hiking trails in Skaftafell, including one to the waterfall Svartifoss, which drops from the edge of a wide cliff of basalt columns. Stay the night in Skaftafell/ Kirkjubæjarklaustur area. Driving distance approx. 200km.
Highlights: Jökulsárlón, Cape Ingólfshöfði and Skaftafell at Vatnajökull National Park.
Optional activities: Boat ride on Glacier Lagoon, glacier hike, ice-climbing and farmer´s hey cart ride to Cape Ingólfshöfði.
Day 8: Landmannalaugar – Natural hot springs and colourful mountains
Explore the beautiful surroundings of Kirkjubæjarklaustur, including Fjaðrarárgljúfur Canyon and the Dverghamrar cliffs. Then take the Fjallabak highland route towards Landmannalaugar, stopping by the Eldgjá fissure system and Ófærufoss waterfall. In Landmannalaugar, a geothermal area surrounded with stunning Rhyolite peaks, you can bathe in a completely natural hot pool. Stay overnight in Hrauneyjar area. Driving distance approx. 140km.
Highlights: Systrastapi, Kirkjubæjarklaustur, Fjaðrarárgljúfur Canyon, Dverghamrar cliffs, Kirkjugólf, Eldgjá, Ófærufoss and Landmannalaugar.
Day 9: Mt. Hekla and Reykjanes
Visit the valley of Þjórsárdalur, including the excavated farm of Stöng that was devastated by the Hekla eruption in 1104. The reconstruction of the Viking Farm was built in Þjórsárdalur based on the excavation at Stöng. On the way back, you will be driving on the base of Mt. Hekla, the most active volcano in Iceland and one of the most famous volcanoes in the world.
Drive to the volcanic wonderland of Reykjanes Peninsula, and visit lake Kleifarvatn and the colourful Seltún (Krýsuvík) with its boiling mud-pots. Head on to the amazing Blue Lagoon Spa where it is ideal to take a refreshing dip in the healing waters. Stay overnight in Reykjavík. Driving distance approx. 240km.
Highlights: Þjórsárdalur, Stöng, Gjáin, Reykjanes peninsula, Lake Kleifarvatn, Seltún (Krýsuvík) and Blue Lagoon.
Optional activities: Blue Lagoon.
Day 10: Departure
Transfer to Keflavik airport with FlyBus in time for your departure-flight.
