This adventurous self drive activity tour around Iceland includes not only many of the country’s biggest attractions, but also action-packed excursions under professional supervision in Iceland’s pristine nature. The tour includes accommodation in Reykjavík, Hvolsvöllur, Skaftafell National Park, Egilsstaðir, Lake Mývatn and Akureyri.
Day 1: The Capital of Cool
On arrival in Keflavik, you will be met by your private chauffeur who will welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation in Reykjavík. After settling in, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the vibrant capital at you own pace. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavík.

Day 2: Golden Circle and ATV Safari
After you have received your rental car, travel to some of the best-known natural phenomena in Iceland including the beautiful Þingvellir National Park. This
romantic park, which has been nominated as a UNESCO world heritage site, is an ancient assembly site of the Vikings and is set in the picturesque area of vast lava fields, a tranquil lake and deep gorges. Continue to the great Geysir area with its spouting Geysers and colorful hot springs and the Gullfoss waterfall, “The Golden Waterfall”. Join an exciting ATV tour in Haukadalur by Geysir in the afternoon.Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Hvolsvöllur area. Driving distance approx. 250 km.

Day 3: The South Shore
Today, you will experience two spectacular waterfalls: Skógarfoss and Seljalandsfoss. Continue to Vík and experience the black, volcanic beach south of
the village, from where you can view the rock formations Dyrhólaey and Reynisdrangar. The last stop of the day is at the stunning Canyon Fjaðrarárgljúfur before settling in at a hotel or guesthouse in Kirkjubæjarklaustur/Skaftafell area. Driving distance approx. 220km.
Highlights: Skógar, Seljarlandsfoss, geothermal pool Seljarlandslaug, Skógafoss, Vík, Dyrhólaey, Reynisdrangar, Fjaðrarárgljúfur, Kirkjubæjarklaustur and Skaftafell.
Day 4: Hiking on Europe’s Largest Glacier
Take a supervised glacier exploration or ice-climbing trip on Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier. You can also join an optional hay cart ride over sands, marshes and waters to cape Ingólfshöfði, a birdwatcher’s paradise, in the afternoon. Overnight in the Kirkjubæjarklaustur/Skaftafell area.
Highlights: Skaftafell at Vatnajökull National Park and Ingólfshöfði cape. 
Day 5: Icebergs and the East
Start the day in Skaftafell in Vatnajökull National Park where are many interesting hiking trails, including one to the waterfall Svartifoss, which drops from the edge of a wide cliff of basalt columns. Head east to the Glacial Lagoon Jökulsárlón, where you will go on a boat ride between the glacier-calves. Stay in a hotel at Höfn or Djúpivogur. Driving distance approx. 210km.
Highlights: Glacier Lagoon and the village of Höfn.
Day 6: Secluded Kayaking
Drive to Seyðisfjörður for a kayaking trip in one of the most remote fjords in Iceland. Drive to Lake Mývatn in the afternoon and visit the colourful Námaskarð pass and the Dimmuborgir lava maze. Overnight around Lake Mývatn.
Driving distance approx. 310km.
Highlights: Mt. Búlandstindur, Petra´s Mineral Collection, Egilsstaðir
Day 7: Lave Cave and Ice Formations
Join a guided jeep tour that takes you on a 4X4 jeep to the enormous tephra cone Hverfell and the crater row of Lúdentaborgir. You are then taken on an expedition into one of Iceland’s most spectacular lava caves, the 3500 year old and 370 meter long Lofthellir, which boasts Iceland’s most breathtaking natural ice sculptures. Overnight around Lake Mývatn.
Optional activities: Change this day-tour to a guided tour to volcano Askja (12 hours) for an additional cost.
Day 8: Grand Canyons and Great Whales
Drive through Jökulsárgljúfur National Park, visiting places such as Ásbyrgi canyon and the deafening Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall in Europe. End the day with an optional evening whale watching tour from Húsavík, the ‘whale watching capital of Europe’. Overnight around Lake Mývatn. Driving distance approx. 235km.
Highlights: Lake Mývatn, Húsavík, Ásbyrgi, Jökulsárgljúfur, Dettifoss and Mývatn Nature Baths.
Optional activities: Whale-watching and bathing in Mývatn Nature Baths.
Day 9: Enchanting North Iceland
Head to North-West Iceland via Akureyri, the ‘capital of North Iceland’. Optional activities on this day can include river rafting in Varmahlíð, horse-riding
or a boat trip to the island Drangey, home to one of Iceland’s most notorious outlaws in the Saga Age. Driving distance approx. 195km.
Highlights: Lake Mývatn area, Goðafoss and Akureyri.
Optional activities: Skiing (weather-& season dependent), river-rafting (summer only) and horse-riding.
Day 10: The End of the Line
Drive back to Reykjavík. Sights along the way can include the beautiful Þingeyrarkirkja church, where the first monastery in Iceland was founded in 1133; the natural fortress Borgarvirki; Deildartunguhver, the largest hot spring in Europe; the beautiful Hraunfossar lava waterfalls; and the historic site of Reykholt. Day 11: Back to the Real World
Transfer to Keflavik airport with FlyBus. If your flight is in the afternoon, you can stop at the Blue Lagoon and even take a little tour of the Reykjanes peninsula (not included).
