This 4X4 tour includes the most beautiful sights of south Iceland, taking you off the beaten track to the exotic highland interior. Experience the vast wilderness, glaciers, waterfalls, colourful mountains, volcanoes and other stunning phenomena that south Iceland has to offer. The sights include Þingvellir National Park, Landmannalaugar, Vatnajökull National Park, Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon and more.
Day 1: Welcome to Reykjavík
On arrival in Keflavík Airport, you will be met by your private chauffeur who will transfer you to your hotel in Reykjavík. If you arrive early, you will have the opportunity to explore the city centre at your own pace.

Day 2: Golden Circle
You will start the day by receiving your 4x4 vehicle. Head east to the amazing Þingvellir National Park, which is on the UNESCO world heritage list, is set in the picturesque area of vast lava fields, tranquil lake, deep gorges and great beauty. Continue to the great Geysir area with its spouting Geysers and colorful hot springs and the Gullfoss waterfall, “The Golden Waterfall”. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Hvolsvöllur area. Driving distance approx. 250km.
Highlights: Þingvellir National Park, Geysir, Gullfoss and volcanic crater.
Optional activities: ATV quad biking, horse backriding and snorkeling.
Day 3: Waterfalls, Glacier Lagoon and Vatnajökull National Park
Sights along the way include the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, the rock formations of Dyrhólaey and Reynisdrangar on the black sand beach south of Vík, glacier Mýrdalsjökull and the village Kirkjubæjarklaustur. Visit the 100 meters deep Fjaðrarárgljúfur Canyon and the tranquil Glacier Lagoon Jökulsárlón where you can enjoy a boat ride between the glacier calves (optional). An ideal ending of the day is to enjoy a divine lobster-feast at Höfn, famous for its lobster and to bath in a natural geothermal hot pot. Stay the night in Vatnajökull National Park Area. Driving distance approx. 350 km.
Highlights: Seljalandsfoss, Skógarfoss, Skógar Folk Museum, Mýrdalsjökull Glacier, Vík, Dyrhólaey, Canyon Fjaðrárgljúfur, Núpar, Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Höfn.
Optional activities: Boat ride on Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon.
Day 4: Skaftafell and Vatnajökull Glacier
Spend the day taking in the many sights of Skaftafell in Vatnajökull National Park and Vatnajökull glacier, Europe’s largest glacier. There are many interesting hiking trails in Skaftafell National Park, including a short hike to the beautiful Svartifoss waterfall, which drops from the edge of a wide cliff of basalt columns. For those more adventerous, there are many optional activities to experience. Stay the night in Kirkjubæjarklaustur area. Driving distance approx. 200km.
Highlights: Skaftafell in Vatnajökull National Park
Optional activities: Ice-climbing or glacier-walk from Skaftafell, quad biking on black lava beach, snow-mobiling on Vatnajökull Glacier and bird-watching tour with hey-cart to cape Ingólfshöfði.
Day 5: Landmannalaugar Highland
Drive to the other-worldly Landmannalaugar. Stop at the Eldgjá fissure system and hike to the waterfall Ófærufoss, one of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls. Enjoy the surreal colours and surroundings of Landmannalaugar and take a bath in the natural hot pools there. It is a paradise for the hiker and you can stay in Hrauneyjar/Mt. Hekla area. Driving distance approx. 210km.
Highlights: Eldgjá, Ófærufoss and Landmannalaugar.
Optional activities: Horse-riding in Landmannalaugar.
Day 6: Volcanic Wonderland and Blue Lagoon
Start the day by driving the beautiful valley of Þjórsárdalur, famous for a replica Saga-Age Farmhouse and a church. Other sights include the oasis Gjáin and waterfall Hjálparfoss. Today, it is ideal to try on quad-biking in the surreal landscape of the highlands before heading down the coast where you might wish to stop at a charming sea-side restaurant on your way to the volcanic wonderland of Reykjanes Peninsula. There are bubbling-hot springs, vast lava-fields, dramatic cliffs as well as the Blue Lagoon – an ideal place for relaxing and a perfect ending of your holiday. Stay the night in Reykjavik. Driving distance approx. 200km.
Highlights: Stöng, Gjáin, Hjálparfoss, Þjórsárdalur
Optional activities: bathing at the Blue Lagoon, Kayaking at Stokkseyri, visiting family-park , visiting Saltfish museum at Grindavík or museum of Icelandic Wonders at Stokkseyri.
Day 7: Departure
Transportation to Keflavik with FlyBus.
