The drive takes you to many of the highlights of Iceland including Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss waterfall, Goðafoss waterfall, Lake Mývatn and surroundings, Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon, Vatnajökull glacier and Snæfellsnes Peninsula.
Day 1: Welcome to Reykjavík
On arrival in Keflavik, you will be met by your private chauffeur who will welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation in Reykjavík. After settling in, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the vibrant capital at you own pace. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavík.

Day 2: The Golden Circle
After you have received your rental car, travel to some of the best-known natural phenomena in Iceland including the beautiful Þingvellir National Park. This romantic park, which has been nominated as a UNESCO world heritage site, is an ancient assembly site of the Vikings and is set in the picturesque area of vast lava fields, a tranquil lake and deep gorges. Continue to the great Geysir area with its spouting Geysers and colorful hot springs and the Gullfoss waterfall, “The Golden Waterfall”. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Hvolsvöllur area. Driving distance approx. 250 km / 155 mi.
Highlights: Þingvellir, Gullfoss, Geysir and Kerið.
Optional activities: snorkeling/diving at Silfra/Þingvellir, Quad Biking or horse-back riding.
Day 3: The South Coast
Today, you will experience two spectacular waterfalls: Skógarfoss and Seljalandsfoss. Continue to Vík and experience the black, volcanic beach south of the village, from where you can view the rock formations Dyrhólaey and Reynisdrangar. At glacier Mýrdalsjökull you will have the opportunity to experience a guided glacial hike. The last stop of the day is at the stunning Canyon Fjaðrarárgljúfur before settling in at a hotel or guesthouse in Kirkjubæjarklaustur/Skaftafell area. Driving distance approx. 220 km / 137 mi.
Highlights: Skógar, Seljalandsfoss, geothermal pool Seljarlandslaug, Skógafoss, Vík, Dyrhólaey, Reynisdrangar, Fjaðrarárgljúfur, Kirkjubæjarklaustur and Skaftafell.
Optional activities: Glacier-walk on Sólheimajökull glacier.
Day 4: Vatnajökull National Park and Glacier Lagoon
Start the day in Skaftafell in Vatnajökull National Park where are many interesting hiking trails, including one to the waterfall Svartifoss, which drops from the edge of a wide cliff of basalt columns. Head east to the Glacial Lagoon Jökulsárlón, where in summer you can get a boat ride between the glacier-calves. Stay in a hotel at Höfn or Djúpivogur. Driving distance approx. 210 km / 130 mi.
Highlights: Skaftafell at Vatnajökull National Park, Glacier Lagoon and the village of Höfn.
Optional activities: glacier walk/ice climbing from Skaftafell, kayaking, boat ride on Jökulsárlón (in summer) and hey-cart bird-watching tour (in summer).
Day 5: Fantastic Fjords and Charming fishing Villages
Drive to Lake Mývatn, a drive characterised by spectacular fjords, tranquil fishing-villages, rugged tundra and sweeping landscapes. Continue to the amazing Lake Mývatn area, where you will see the volcano Krafla, the curiously coloured Námaskarð pass, the massive crater of Hverfell and the lunar-like pseudo-craters at Skútustaðir. Stay in a hotel in Lake Mývatn area. Driving distance approx. 290 km / 180 mi.
Highlights: Mt. Búlandstindur, Petra´s Mineral Collection, Egilsstaðir, Krafla, Námaskarð, Hverfell, Skútustaðir.
Day 6: Lunar Landscapes and Lava Formations
Explore the surroundings of Lake Mývatn. You can start the day with an optional whale-watching trip from ‘the whale watching capital of Europe’, Húsavík. Then, you can drive through the wonderful Jökulsárgljúfur - a part of Vatnajökull National Park, visiting sites such as the canyon Ásbyrgi and the most powerful waterfall in Europe, Dettifoss. End the day by relaxing in the Mývatn Nature Baths and enjoy bathing in a pool of geothermal water drawn from depths of up to 2,500 meters, where in summer you can experience the midnight sun and in winter the dancing northern lights. Stay the night in the Lake Mývatn area. Driving distance approx. 200 km / 124 mi.

Day 7: Explore the ‘capital of the north’
Spend the first half of the day around Lake Mývatn. Visit Goðafoss (the waterfall of the Gods) on your way to Akureyri, the ‘capital of the north’. The town offers interesting shops and museums, the world's most northerly botanic garden and in winter the best skiing area in the country. Continue to the valley of Skagafjörður, known as ´The Mecca of the Icelandic Horse´ where it is ideal to experiencing riding the friendly local breed. Sights along the way include the countless mounds of Vatnsdalshólar and the beautiful Þingeyrakirkja church. Stay the night in the Northwest. Driving distance approx. 200 km / 124 mi.

Optional activities: Skiing (weather-& season dependent), river-rafting (summer only) and horse-riding.
Day 8: The Northwest
Today, head to Snæfellsnes Peninsula and experience the stunning Snæfellsjökull National Park. You can visit the living Viking-museum at Eiríksstaðir and the hot geothermal pool Guðrúnarlaug (summer only). Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Snæfellsnes. Driving distance approx. 260 km / 162 mi.

Day 9: Snæfellsjökull National Park and Snæfellsjökull Glacier
Experience the unique Snæfellsjökull National Park, with amazing birdlife, lush valleys and lava fields. It is ideal to drive around the peninsula, exploring Dritvík Cove, Lóndrangar Cliffs as well as Hellnar and Arnarstapi Cliffs with its bursting bird-life and the small villages on the coast. You might wish to test your strength at the stones of the black volcanic beach of Djúpalónssandur like the seamen in past times. On Snæfellsnes, you can choose from a variety of actitivities such as horse riding, hiking, taking a boat-cruise (in summer) or simply relax and take in the glacier’s alleged supernatural energy. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavík. Driving distance approx. 290 km / 180 mi.

Day 9: Reykholt, Trolls and Waterfalls
Today, explore the west of Iceland. Sights include the Icelandic Settlement centre exhibition at the village of Borgarnes and the largest hot spring in Europe, Deildartunguhver. Continue up to the beautiful Hraunfossar waterfalls, where the clean spring water descentes from the lava-field to the river and the nearby Barnafoss waterfalls. You can visit the medieval research institution Sorrastofa at Reykholt, where Snorri Sturluson wrote the Saga Heimskringla in the 13th century. On your way back to Reykjavik you can get aquanted with the the troll women Drifa at Fossatún overlooking a waterfall. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavík. Driving distance approx. 270 km / 168 mi.

Day 10: Home Sweet Home
Transfer to Keflavik with FlyBus. If your flight is in the afternoon, you can stop at the Blue Lagoon or even take a little tour of the Reykjanes peninsula (optional for an extra charge).
