Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Reykjavík
On arrival to Keflavík Airport you are met by your private driver and transferred to your hotel in central Reykjavik. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the city as you wish, perhaps with a visit to one of the many museums or a stroll down the always lively shopping street, Laugavegur.

Downtown Reykjavík also offers a wide variety of restaurants, cafés and coffee houses as well as plenty of bars and clubs if you wish to experience the renowned Reykjavík nightlife.

Spend the next two nights at the Reykjavik Centrum Hotel (or similar) in Reykjavík.

Highlights: Reykjavik.

Day 2: The Golden Circle
In the morning you are picked up for a guided super-jeep tour of the Golden Circle, a popular tourist route that contains some of the country’s most famous attractions.

The first stop is Þingvellir National Park, the site of Iceland’s ancient assembly grounds and the continental rift valley. Next is a visit to the spouting geysers and seething vents at the Haukadalur geothermal area and then a stop for pictures at the Gullfoss waterfall. The last stop of the tour is Langjökull, Europe’s second largest glacier, before heading back to Reykjavik for another overnight.

Highlights: Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir area, Kerið and glacier Langjökull.
Activities: Guided Golden Circle 4x4 super-jeep tour.

Day 3: North Iceland
Transportation is provided to Reykjavik Domestic for your 45-minute flight to Akureyri, “The Capital of the North”, where you are welcomed by your private driver. Your ride to the hotel near Lake Mývatn takes you past incredible scenery, including moon-like landscapes and the powerful Goðafoss waterfall.

Later, enjoy a soothing soak in the Mývatn Nature Baths before dinner at your hotel (included in package) and a guided tour in search of the northern lights.*

Spend the next two nights at a hotel in the Lake Mývatn area of North Iceland.

*
The northern lights, or aurora borealis, are a natural phenomenon and therefore sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Highlights: Akureyri, Goðafoss, Lake Mývatn, Mývatn Nature Baths and northern lights.

Day 4: Lake Mývatn
Enjoy the first part of the day with a guided tour of Lake Mývatn’s unusual surroundings, including the sizzling mud pools at Námafjall, the Dimmuborgir lava field and the pseudo-craters at Skútustaðir just to name a few. In the evening, an evening walk by the lake might give you another good opportunity to see the northern lights if conditions are right.

Highlights: Námafjall, Dimmuborgir, Skútustaðir and northern lights.

Day 5: Back to Reykjavik

In the morning you are taken back to the city of Akureyri for a sightseeing tour of the old town before your afternoon flight back to Reykjavik. You then have rest of the evening to explore the city centre as you wish and enjoy the countless dining and nightlife options.

Spend the next two nights at the Reykjavik Centrum Hotel (or similar) in Reykjavík.

Highlights: Akureyri and Reykjavik.

Day 6: Eyjafjallajökull Exclusive

Today’s adventure takes you to the beautiful south coast for an exclusive super jeep-tour near the infamous Eyjafjallajökull volcano. Starting from the Gigjökull glacier, the tour first heads to the beautiful Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where the sure-footed can walk behind the cascade.

After enjoying a picnic lunch, the journey continues through wilderness areas off limits to normal vehicles as your jeep driver crosses un-bridged glacier rivers to reach the eruption site. Before returning to Reykjavik, the tour takes you along dramatic black sand beaches to the Skógarfoss waterfall, where you can take a short break to admire this impressive sight.

Highlights: Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, Dyrhólaey, Reynisdrangar.
Activities: Eyjafjallajökull Exclusive 4x4 super-jeep tour (8 – 9 hours).

Day 7: Blue Lagoon and Departure

Enjoy a relaxing morning at the Blue Lagoon, a geothermal spa set in an otherworldly lava field. The warm, radiant-blue water here is rich in silica and blue-green algae, giving the spa its reputed healing powers. This wonderful last experience of Iceland ensures that you are fully relaxed before your departure flight at Keflavik Airport. Private transfers to the Blue Lagoon and airport are included.

Highlights: Blue Lagoon.
