  • Day 1: Arrival in Iceland

On arrival to Keflavik Airport, you will be met by a driver and transferred to your accommodation in the capital city. After settling in, use the rest of the day to explore Reykjavik at your leisure. In the colourful, compact downtown you‘ll find a variety of little shops, cafes and museums to entertain visitors of all ages, most of which are within easy walking distance of each other. The city centre also has plenty of restaurants with menus to suit all tastes, from pizza, pasta and burgers to seafood, steaks and international dishes.

Spend the next three nights in Reykjavik.

  • Day 2: Whales & Warm Geothermal Pools

Start the day with a whale watching tour from Reykjavik’s old harbour. As you sail through the beautiful Faxaflói Bay, you have a chance to see Minke, Humpback, Fin and Blue Whales in their natural habitat. After the tour, we recommend lunch at one of the city centre’s kid-friendly cafés, such as Laundromat Café, followed by a short walk over to the Harpa concert hall, where you can explore the cutting edge interior and the adjoining pier (optional guided tours available).

If your family is up for more activities, head over to the Laugardalur valley to visit the Reykjavik Family Park & Zoo. Here you will also find beautiful botanical gardens and one of the best swimming complexes in Reykjavik, Laugardalslaug, including a large (heated) outdoor pool, a smaller kiddie pool, hot tubs, a steam bath and a twisting waterslide that is sure to be a hit with the kids.

    Highlights
  • Day 3:  Earth in Action on the Golden Circle

Start the day with a private guided 4x4 jeep tour to some of the best-known natural wonders in Iceland on the popular “Golden Circle” route. Sights include Þingvellir National Park—a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can walk in the rift valley between continents, the roaring Gullfoss waterfall, the Kerið volcanic crater and the spouting hot springs of the Geysir geothermal area.

At Geysir, we recommend a visit to the multimedia show to virtually experience an ice cave and the northern lights (optional, not included). Before returning to the city, your guide can also take you to the Slakki family petting zoo at Laugarás, where the kids can make friends with some friendly Icelandic farm animals (open during summer).

  • Day 4: Warm Farewell at the Blue Lagoon

For your last Icelandic adventure of this trip, a driver will pick you up from your accommodation and take you to the famous Blue Lagoon on your way to Keflavik Airport. This bright blue geothermal pool surrounded by alien-like lava formations is sure to leave a lasting impression! Here you can enjoy the complementary silica mud masks—a fun family photo opportunity—as well as the steam baths, saunas and indoor café.

After a relaxing soak, the driver will then take you the short distance to the airport in time for your check-in.

Iceland 2013

I used Nordic Visitor for a trip to Iceland in 2013 for my 10 year old son and I. I knew what I wanted to see and experience on our trip. Nordic Visitor took my list and created a wonderful customized itinerary. Everything was perfect and all arrangements were flawless. I was pleasantly surprised! If you are going to Iceland, I highly recommend working with this group. They are professional, polite, timely and know Iceland!

I would have no hesitation in recommending Nordic Visitor

Your agent at Nordic Visitor did so much to make our tour a memorable experience and was so readily flexible, allowing us to modify our plans several times. Nothing was too much trouble to her and we were so pleased to meet her when we finally arrived in Iceland. I would have no hesitation in recommending Nordic Visitor to anyone who was thinking of visiting Iceland.
