  • Day 1: Warm Welcome to Iceland

On arrival at Keflavík Airport you will be greeted by your private driver, who will take you first to the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa, a great place to unwind after a flight. After a relaxing soak, your driver will then take you to your hotel in Reykjavík, where you will be greeted with champagne and chocolates from Iceland's finest chocolatier.

Spend the rest of the afternoon or evening exploring the city as you wish with its cosy cafes, fine restaurants, museums and other highlights.

Spend the night at a hotel in Reykjavík.

    Highlights Highlights
  • Day 2: Super-Jeep adventure & Into the Glacier

Start the day with a thrilling guided super-jeep tour to the dramatic highland road leading to the bleack and hauntingly beautiful Kaldidalur valley and Langjökull glacier. Once we reach the glacier, you will have a chance to explore a majestic ice cave (weather depending). Here you will learn about the glacier, the man made ice cave and witness amazing blue ice formations, an experience that very few in the world have had. Next up is a drive towards Borgarfjörður with a stop at the beautiful Hraunfossar ‘lava waterfalls’, Deildartunguhver—the largest hot spring in Europe and historic Reykholt. We return to Reykjavik via Hvalfjörður, the Whale Fjord, with it´s small whale factory and remains from World War II.

    Spend another night in Reykjavík.

Note: Into the Glacier tour is weather dependent. The operators of the glacial tunnel will only guide tours if the conditions are safe to do so.

  • Day 3: Magic of Snæfellsjökull Glacier

After collecting your rental car, drive to Snæfellsjökull National Park on the Snæfellsnes peninsula—perfect for nature lovers with its diverse bird life, mountain views and lava fields. The main attraction here is the Snæfellsjökull glacier, said to be one of Earth’s seven major energy centres and the setting of Jules Verne’s novel Journey to the Centre of the Earth. This area is also great for horse riding tours and walks on the beach, as well as bird watching by the coastline.

Spend the night on Borgarfjörður or Snæfellsnes peninsula area.

Driving distance approx. 280 km / 173 mi.

Highlights Highlights Highlights Highlights Highlights Highlights Highlights Optional Activity
  • Day 4: Wonders of the Golden Circle

Today your journey takes you to some of the best-known natural phenomena in Iceland, on what is commonly known as the "Golden Circle" route. Attractions here include Þingvellir National Park—listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its geological and historical significance, the frequently bursting Strokkur geyser at the Geysir geothermal area and Gullfoss, the queen of Iceland's waterfalls.

Spend the night in the Golden Circle/South Coast area.

Driving distance approx. 260 km / 162 mi.

    Highlights Highlights Highlights Highlights
  • Day 5: Volcanic Beach and Waterfalls

Head to the graceful Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you can experience walking behind the misty cascade and maybe, if you're lucky, see a rainbow rising out of the water. Further ahead you'll arrive to another fairytale-like waterfall, Skógafoss, and the nearby Skógar Folk Museum before reaching the black volcanic beach by Vík.

If the weather permits, you will also have an opportunity to go on a guided glacial hike or horse riding tour. (Optional activities can be added on request.)

Spend the night in the Golden Circle/South Coast area.

Driving distance approx. 270 km / 168 mi.

  • Day 6: COSTAL SCENERY & SEASIDE VILLAGES

Drive along the scenic south coast on your return to the capital city. We suggest a short optional detour to the charming little seaside village of Stokkseyri for lunch at its renowned lobster restaurant (meal not included). Back in Reykjavik enjoy the rest of the afternoon exploring more of the city centre, perhaps with some last-minute shopping, a visit to a museum or a break at one of the city's refreshing thermal pools. And if you’d like one last chance to get a glimpse of the northern lights, various guided evening tours are available from the city centre.

    Spend the night in Reykjavík.

Breathtaking

Spent 7 days 6 night in Iceland and our trip was organized by Nordic Visitor Tours. Everything was so well done we truly feel that we would've missed some of the most beautiful vistas having not had an itinerary from this group. All of the accommodations were fabulous and the recommendations for sightseeing were perfect. We loved everything about it and plan on using Nordic Visitor Tours again.

Everything worked beyond our wildest expectations

Maria - We can't tell you enough what a spectacular vacation we had in Iceland. Your package was perfect. Everything worked beyond our wildest expectations. We loved the country, of course - what a beautiful place, and the people are fabulous. Food was delicious and all accommodations were so comfortable and luxurious.

All the materials you provided were amazing. The road atlas was a tremendous help and an appreciated gift as well. We hope someday to visit other nordic countries - Denmark and Norway especially. We will certainly go to Nordic Visitor when we do. Thank you again for all the thoughtful planning that made this trip truly memorable.

A perfect honeymoon!

I booked the 'Exotic Hideaways' package last winter for my wife and I for our honeymoon in May. We have both always wanted to visit Iceland and having just returned from our trip, I can say unequivocally it was everything we were expecting and more! From our driver who picked us up at the airport and went out of his way to make us feel welcome, to our 'at your own pace' itinerary and all the accommodations arranged for us along the way (which were virtually flawless!) - It all came together for an unforgettable honeymoon!

Perhaps it was because we arrived technically in the tail end of the off-season, but at times it felt like we had the entire country to ourselves! And what an AMAZING country it is!!! Waterfalls, Cliffs, Caves, Lava fields… each stop seemed to be more indescribably beautiful then the last.

With all the wedding planning and considering we've never been to Iceland before, I thought it best to leave the details of the honeymoon up to a professional… and I'm glad I did! I was understandably a little anxious putting so much of our trip in the hands of a company I only just stumbled across online, but in reading reviews on TripAdvisor and others I had a feeling Nordic Visitor would come through - and they did! Lárus was our travel consultant and did a good job responding to my emails in a timely manner and was even happy to accommodate with a few special requests. I will say email seems to be the preferred method of contact. I did try calling the office on one occasion but they asked kindly if I would mind calling back later because they were in the process of changing offices. I never did, but it was reassuming to know at least there was someone on the other line I could call up if I had an immediate question.

We chose one of the self-drive packages, which at first I was a little on the fence about but it
