  • Day 1:  Arrival and Relaxation at the Spa!

After a “meet and greet” at Keflavík Airport, we make our way to the lovely Hótel Selfoss on Iceland’s south coast, where we will spend our first 3 nights. Here, you have the rest of the day to relax at the hotel’s well-equipped spa, featuring a steam room, sauna, hot tub, rainwater showers, relaxation room, lounge, and bar. In the evening, a welcome dinner will be served at the hotel.

  • Day 2:  The Golden Circle

Some of Iceland’s best known natural phenomena are found along the famous Golden Circle route, including Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site, and the incredible Haukadalur geothermal area, home of the great Geysir. The route also includes a stop to Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most breathtaking waterfalls. We end the day by tantalizing our taste buds under the midnight sun or northern lights with a delicious lobster feast at a quaint seaside village!

  • Day 3:  South Coast Charms

Our destination today is Iceland’s beautiful south coast, an area rich in natural diversity with such remarkable sights as glaciers, a black volcanic beach, and stunning waterfalls. At Seljalandsfoss waterfall, we can even walk behind the cascade and feel the light drizzle! Further along, we come to the magical Skógafoss waterfall and the nearby Skógar Folk Museum, where Iceland’s rural past comes alive. Later in the afternoon, we return to Hótel Selfoss in time for a savoury dinner.

  • Day 4:  Reykjanes & Blue Lagoon

Today we visit the Reykjanes Peninsula, which seems like another planet with its moon-like landscapes! Our first stop is to the Krýsuvík geothermal area followed by lunch and a soak at the world-famous Blue Lagoon Spa. The unique lava surroundings and mineral-rich waters of the Blue Lagoon promote harmony between body, mind, and spirit. After a soothing soak, we head to Reykjavík in the afternoon to enjoy some free time and an overnight stay.

Due to scheduled renovations to the facilities, the Blue Lagoon will be closed from 5 through 21 January 2016 inclusive.

  • Day 5:  City Tour & Taste of Iceland

Start the day with a unique city tour of Reykjavik with a guide dressed up in the Icelandic National costume! The tour gives us many insights into the capital city’s history, art, architecture, culture, and cuisine. The finishing touch is an exclusive visit to a restaurant at one of Reykjavik’s oldest hotels, where we can enjoy a glass of wine while the head chef enlightens us about Iceland’s culinary secrets! After the tour, the rest of the day is free to visit the city’s many interesting museums, shops, and cafés or one of the spas.

  • Day 6:  Departure

Sadly, it’s time to say goodbye to this land of amazing nature. Our guide will pick up the group at the hotel in time for departure check-in at Keflavik Airport.

Customised self-drive 12-day tour of Iceland

Our experience with our tour agent Helga of Nordic Visitor from the time of our initial booking to the end of the trip was a pleasant and excellent one. Response was timely and comprehensive. She was proactive in customizimg our requirements to a 12-day self drive tour. We had a Citroen mid-size rental car which was comfortable and reliable. Hotels of comfort standard were generally good. All in all, I would recommend Nordic Visitor to friends and relatives.

Iceland holiday

Nordic Visitor was the only travel agency that really took the time to understand what I was looking for instead of merely sending me pre-fixed packages. Jelena was my travel adviser and she was very efficient and helpful. Can really recommend their work.
