  • Day 1: Welcome to Iceland

On arrival to Keflavik Airport, your private driver will transfer you to your hotel in Reykjavik. After settling in, the rest of the day is free for you to explore the vibrant city centre with its abundance of museums, restaurants and bars to suit all tastes. If you're interested in checking out Icelandic design or experiencing the city's thriving coffee culture, head to the main street, Laugavegur, and enjoy its various shops and cosy cafes.

Spend the next two nights in Reykjavík.

    Highlights
  • Day 2: Reykjavík City Walk and Whale Watching

After breakfast, enjoy a guided small group walking tour in the heart of Reykjavik with a friendly local. Over the course of the 2-hour walk, your knowledgeable guide will introduce you to the landmarks and highlights of the downtown area while pointing out great restaurants, charming cafés and interesting activities available in Iceland’s charismatic capital city. After the tour, you will have time for a close encounter with whales as you join a whale watching tour. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore the city, thermal spas, museums, restaurants and nightlife.

    Spend the night in Reykjavik.

  • Day 3: Icebergs & Adventures in Ilulissat

Depart from Reykjavik Domestic Airport for your flight to the Arctic village of Ilulissat. If it‘s a sunny day, you can enjoy wonderful views over the Greenland ice cap from the plane.

On arrival, you will be transferred to your accommodation. After getting settled, you can explore your surroundings or take part in some optional activities such as helicopter rides over icebergs, motorboat tours to the Eqi glacier with its enormous pieces of calved ice, cultural demonstrations and village walks, whale watching safaris or excursions to the small, remote settlements in the area.

For hiking enthusiasts, the Sermermiut Valley just a few kilometres from Ilulissat offers spectacular views from a number of marked trails. We also highly recommend taking a cruise in the Icefjord to see the enormous icebergs in the warm evening glow of the midnight sun.

Spend the next two nights in Ilulissat.

    Highlights
  • Day 4: Explore Greenlandic Nature & Culture

Today you have the entire day at your leisure. Maybe you want to relax around town and enjoy the view over the large chunks of calved ice floating by. Or perhaps you could get a different—or closer—view of the icebergs by boat, land or air with one of the many optional guided activities available today.

    Spend the night in Ilulissat.

Note: We recommend booking the optional activities in advance through your travel consultant at Nordic Visitor, though you may also book activities at your hotel in Ilulissat during your stay.

    Highlights
  • Day 5: Back to Reykjavik in the Afternoon

Before saying goodbye to this majestic land, you still have the entire morning to join a short optional excursion or do some last-minute souvenir shopping. On the return flight to Reykjavík in the afternoon, you have another chance to enjoy the stunning views over the Icefjord and its surrounding landscapes.

Enjoy the evening at your leisure and spend the next two nights in Reykjavik.

    Highlights Highlights
  • Day 6: Natural Wonders of the Golden Circle

Learn about Iceland’s unique geology and history with a guided bus tour along the famous “Golden Circle” route. Highlights include the beautiful Þingvellir National Park, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the great Geysir geothermal area with its spouting hot springs and Gullfoss (“golden falls”), considered one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls. Returning to Reykjavik, the tour also makes a stop at the historical site of Skálholt and the small geothermal-greenhouse town of Hveragerði.

    Spend the night in Reykjavik.

  • Day 7: Warm Farewell at the Blue Lagoon

If you’re leaving on an afternoon flight you will have time to relax at the amazing Blue Lagoon geothermal spa, known its soothing mineral-rich waters surrounded by jet-black basalt lava—a perfect way to end your Arctic summer holiday. Transfers to the Blue Lagoon and Keflavik Airport are provided by coach bus.

Greenland and Southern Iceland - July/Aug 2014

My wife and I did the 4 day Greenland trip to Ilulissat and then the South Iceland trip. They were flawless. Everything was as planned, the trip to Greenland was definitely the highlight. The self drive tour in Iceland was also great, no issues with any logistics. Recommend!!

Dream vacation with the grandchildren

Our hotels were perfect. We enjoyed wonderful dinners, some in the hotels, and others along the way. We were pleasantly surprised that even the smallest hotels served gourmet meals, great food and beautiful presentation. This was the vacation of our dreams and we were blessed to travel with our daughter and two granddaughters, ages 8 and 11. We were still in Iceland when the granddaughters talked of "when we come back to Iceland". We then knew the trip was a success and we can't thank Gudrun and Nordic Visitor enough.

Attention to detail is outstanding

We (two couples) had an excellent trip in Iceland, very well planned by Alexandra whom I eventually had the pleasure to meet…Our favourite day trip was zodiac on lagoon Jokulsarlon and my horseback ride! Local tour providers were very accommodating, with up to date and safe equipment for the zodiac, whale watch, horse ride. Greenland was very special as we visited during Midnight Sun, I will never forget our sailing among the icebergs at midnight…this was truly a most memorable trip. Thank you, Alexandra, for helping us create such special memories. I was very impressed by your planning, the tour packet, the map of driving route, the road atlas, and day by day hotels and activities. Nordic Visitor’s attention to detail is outstanding. I am a travel agent and I look forward to booking clients with Alexandra/Nordic Visitor! Thank you! Takk fyrir!
