Day 1: Arrival in the Capital of the North

On arrival at Keflavík Airport, you’ll be met by your private chauffeur and transferred to Reykjavik. Check into your hotel and relax after the journey. The rest of the day is open to explore Reykjavik, visit museums, landmarks and such, and ideal to unwind at one of the cosy thermal baths & spas. This small city is ideal to explore on foot as most attractions are easily within walking range of your hotel. Spend the night in Reykjavik.

Day 2: Reykjavík Sightseeing and a Quest for the Northern Lights

After breakfast at the hotel, you will enjoy a Greater Area Reykjavík Sightseeing Tour. This guided tour includes the most significant places in the capital and some surrounding towns, such as the Presidential Residence at Bessastaðir, Perlan, church Hallgrímskirkja and Hafnafjörður the town where the “hidden people” and humans live together in harmony. Tonight, if weather conditions allow, you will be taken for a tour on a hunt for the magnificent northern lights – also known as Aurora Borealis*.

Day 3: Geysir, Golden Waterfall and Þingvellir National Park

We will take you on an afternoon tour, taking in some of the best-known natural phenomena in Iceland including Þingvellir National Park, the waterfall Gullfoss and the great Geysir area. This six-hour tour is one of the most popular tours in Iceland.

Day 4: The Blue Lagoon and Departure

Revitalize your mind, body, and spirit the Icelandic way! Begin the day with a relaxing visit to Iceland’s treasured Blue Lagoon, a natural geothermal spa renowned for its therapeutic, mineral-rich waters surrounded by moon-like landscape. Rental car types

At Nordic Visitor, we believe the journey is just as important as the destination. That’s why we offer a great selection of high-quality, dependable vehicles from a reputable local car rental agency. Below are the vehicle types available in this package. You can choose the type that best suits your needs in the booking process. (Note: we recommend a 4x4 vehicle for winter tours.)

Drivers

For extra comfort and safety on the road, we let you add a second authorized driver to your car rental agreement at no cost, so you can share the wheel with a mate and cut the risk of driver fatigue.

GPS Navigation

Nordic Visitor offers GPS navigation as a standard feature, at no extra charge, in all of our self-drive vacation packages in Iceland. As many of our customers have told us, this is a helpful addition to the complimentary Iceland Road Atlas and detailed road map that we give to all customers on arrival.

Information

All rentals include a standard insurance policy with Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), unlimited mileage, GPS, two drivers and Icelandic VAT @25.5%.
Fuel, oil and fees for traffic violations, parking or tunnels are not included. Optional insurance upgrades, additional drivers and child seats are available and payable locally at the car rental office.

Best months to experience the Northern Lights are October through April every year, with peak visibility from December through February. Please note, as the Northern Lights are natural phenomena, we cannot guarantee sightings even if the tour is operated.
The temperature may be very cold at times; bring warm clothes and plenty of layers.
