  • Day 1: Arrival to Iceland

Welcome to Iceland! Your time in Iceland kicks off with an airport transfer to Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. Along the way you can relax as you are driven through the lava fields before getting to the city. After you have settled in, head out to explore the exciting city centre. The main downtown street, Laugavegur, offers a variety of shops, restaurants, outdoor spaces, and places to get delicious ice cream—all within an easy walk. In the evening, have dinner at one of Reykjavík‘s many restaurants (not included) and spend the evening at leisure.

Next up is the majestic Gullfoss waterfall, which is a two-tiered waterfall with roaring white water thundering and crashing below. There's a reason why this is such a popular attraction! Please be advised that this tour is not suitable for children.

Our team of local expert guides at Nordic Visitor are highly recommended by our travellers and staff with years of experience. What they offer is local knowledge, love for their country, their stories, favourite places and sites where travellers, on their own, would not hear about or visit. They always have some trick up their sleeves and hidden gems to surprise our clients and therefore we recommend that you join our guided small group tours to get a personal experience for your Icelandic adventure. There will be one guide per tour, who will drive and lead the tour.

Our team of local travel experts at Nordic Visitor have put together a list of wonderful hotels for your stay in Iceland. The hotels that we use are based on our top favourites in Reykjavik and in the countryside, with an emphasis on quality, excellent ratings and comfort. To view the detailed list of hotels available for this tour, please view the accommodation section for this tour.

Note: Triple rooms are not available for this tour, only single and double rooms.

A daily breakfast buffet is included at your booked hotels for the duration of your stay. You will also enjoy two included dinners. They will include either a set dinner menu or a dinner buffet with a good variety of local fresh ingredients.  You can choose meat, fish or vegetarian dishes by notifying your travel consultant in advance of any dietary restrictions.

Other meals are not included, but the guide will make sure to stop along the way for you to pick up snacks, drinks and lunch. Drinks are also not included during the trip. You will find a great selection of restaurants in Reykjavik during your stay for the first and last night in the city.

  • For more information on what to pack, please visit our Online Travel Guide.

To ensure comfortable seating for everyone on our tour, we need to limit the size and amount of luggage on the van. Each guest is allowed one suitcase or large bag that can be stored in the back of the van and one smaller item (e.g., a small backpack or daypack) to keep inside the van for daily essentials like camera, wallet, medications and so forth. Unfortunately carry-on suitcases (cabin bags) are too large to store inside the van in the overhead racks. If you have any questions about luggage your Nordic Visitor travel consultant will be able to assist you.

Please note that the programme is dependent upon weather and road conditions, and may be altered if conditions are not favourable. In the case of major changes to the programme, you will be notified and we will do our best to make sure that your experience will not be affected.

For information on weather conditions and daylight hours we recommend visiting our extensive Online Travel Guide.

All bookings are charged in Icelandic Króna (ISK), the official currency of Iceland. Prices displayed in other currencies are indicative only and based on the daily exchange rate as issued by the Central bank of Iceland. Therefore, conversions from ISK to other currencies will fluctuate from day to day.

After booking your package with Nordic Visitor, you will be contacted within two working days by one of our travel consultants, who will serve as your dedicated contact person for all of your travel needs before, during and even after your holiday. Your travel consultant will provide you with details about your booking and your remaining payment (if not paid in full). You will also receive more information about what to expect during your holiday.
