This morning, your guide will meet you at the hotel and you will head to some of the best-known attractions in the south of Iceland. The first leg of your journey is along the south coast, with a stop at the fairy tale-like Seljalandsfoss waterfall—the only one of its kind in Iceland where you can walk behind the cascade on a footpath! For those who are a bit more adventurous, we recommend visiting a hidden waterfall in the canyon, known as Gljúfrabúi, located near Seljalandsfoss. Further along you can visit the magnificent 60 metre free-falling Skógafoss waterfall in Skógar. From there, the journey takes you past the beautiful Eyjafjöll mountain range.

Adjacent to the glacier lagoon, you will visit the Diamond Beach, where you will see chunks of sparkling ice dotting the shore like diamonds. Next, you will head to the smaller Fjallsárlón Glacier Lagoon, before continuing to the beautiful Skaftafell area of Vatnajökull National Park, named for Iceland’s largest glacier. On your way back to the hotel you will stop at Dverghamrar, a small but impressive canyon full of unusual hexagonal basalt columns.

Not far from the geothermal areas of Krýsuvík and Seltún is Kleifarvatn, the third largest lake in southern Iceland. Tour Information

We recommend that all our travellers read through the following information about what the tour includes and useful information about the activities included on the tour.

Let us help you make this the tour of your dreams, according to your specific needs and interests. This package can be customised with extra nights, optional activities and other changes to the itinerary. Please contact us for details. All accommodation and planned activities (as specified in the itinerary) will be pre-booked by Nordic Visitor.

Our team of local travel experts at Nordic Visitor have compiled a list of wonderful hotels for your stay in Iceland. We carefully select hotels/guesthouses in Reykjavik and the countryside based on excellent ratings, personal experience and comfort. Single, double and triple rooms are available for our packages. Please note, that in Iceland our room types are based on European standard sizes. For instance, a double bed often consists of two single beds pushed together. Triple rooms include a double bed along with an extra bed, a rollaway or a sofa bed, and a single room is often smaller than the standard double.

Travellers can choose to add-on selected optional extras when booking online. It is also possible to add extra nights to packages along with customising the tours to client needs. Please note, the optional extras are not private unless otherwise stated.

Please note that sightseeing is dependent on weather and road conditions and might need to be altered if conditions are not favourable. Please be advised that days are long in Iceland during the summer, with almost 24 hours of daylight at the summer solstice. It is advisable to bring a sleep mask as some find it difficult falling asleep at night.  For more information on weather conditions and daylight hours, we recommend visiting Nordic Visitor’s Online Travel Guide.
