IMPORTANT & USEFUL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS TOUR
We recommend that all of our travellers read through the following information about what the tour includes, what to pack for your holiday and useful information about the activities included on the tour.
Please be advised that this tour is not suitable for children.
OUR NORDIC VISITOR GUIDES
Our team of local expert guides at Nordic Visitor are highly recommended by our travellers and staff with years of experience. What they offer is local knowledge, love for their country, their stories, favourite places and sites where travellers, on their own, would not hear about or visit. They always have some tricks up their sleeves and hidden gems to surprise our clients and therefore we recommend that you join our guided small group tours to get a personal experience for your Icelandic adventure. There will be one guide per tour, who will drive and lead the tour.
Our team of local travel experts at Nordic Visitor have put together a list of wonderful hotels for your stay in Iceland. The hotels that we use are based on our top favourites in Reykjavik and in the countryside, with an emphasis on quality, excellent ratings and comfort. To view the detailed list of hotels available for this tour, please view the accommodation section for this tour.
Note: Triple rooms are not available for this tour, only single and double rooms.
FITNESS & ACTIVITY LEVEL
Please note that this tour includes quite a lot of walking during tours. This means you need to be prepared and able to walk between 3-5 kilometres during days where sightseeing tours are included. You also need to be able to carry your own luggage when boarding the mini-bus and at each hotel.
FOOD & DRINK
A daily breakfast buffet is included at your booked hotels for the duration of your stay. You will also enjoy two included dinners. They will include either a set dinner menu or a dinner buffet with a good variety of local fresh ingredients. You can choose meat, fish or vegetarian dishes by notifying your travel consultant in advance of any dietary restrictions.
Other meals are not included, but the guide will make sure to stop along the way for you to pick up snacks, drinks and lunch. Drinks are also not included during the trip. You will find a great selection of restaurants in Reykjavik during your stay for the first and last night in the city.
The average cost of meals depends on the type of restaurant, but for lunch we’d say that the average cost is from 2.500 ISK to 3.500 ISK per person. The average cost of dinner can range from 3.000 ISK up to 6.500 ISK per person for the main entree. Three course dinners at restaurants are priced around 7.000 ISK to 11.000 ISK per person.
INFORMATION ABOUT ACTIVITIES
We include a zodiac boat tour at the Glacier Lagoon in your package. The excursion takes roughly 40 minutes and includes an English-speaking guide who will explain to you the geology of the region and interesting facts about the lagoon. Everyone on board will receive a life vest which they must wear during the cruise.
A glacier walk is also included in your package. An experienced local guide will provide the necessary gear and help you put on the crampons.
A fat bike tour is included, which is an ideal way to explore Iceland’s rugged terrain. A professional guide will lead the tour.
WHAT TO PACK
A small backpack to store your items on the bus
Waterproof jacket and pants
Sturdy hiking boots
Lip balm and moisturiser
Sunglasses and sunscreen
Swimsuit and towel are recommended
Water bottle to enjoy the clean Icelandic water
For more information on what to pack, please visit our Online Travel Guide.
To ensure comfortable seating for everyone on our tour, we need to limit the size and amount of luggage on the van. Each guest is allowed one suitcase or large bag that can be stored in the back of the van and one smaller item (e.g., a small backpack or daypack) to keep inside the van for daily essentials like camera, wallet, medications and so forth. Unfortunately carry-on suitcases (cabin bags) are too large to store inside the van in the overhead racks. If you have any questions about luggage your Nordic Visitor travel consultant will be able to assist you.
SAFETY, DAYLIGHT HOURS & WEATHER CONDITIONS
Please note that the programme is dependent upon weather and road conditions, and may be altered if conditions are not favourable. In the case of major changes to the programme, you will be notified and we will do our best to make sure that your experience will not be affected.
For information on weather conditions and daylight hours we recommend visiting our extensive Online Travel Guide.
All bookings are charged in Icelandic Króna (ISK), the official currency of Iceland. Prices displayed in other currencies are indicative only and based on the daily exchange rate as issued by the Central bank of Iceland. Therefore, conversions from ISK to other currencies will fluctuate from day to day.
