  • Day 1: Welcome to Iceland (Dec 29)

    On arrival to Keflavik Airport, you will be greeted by a driver who will take you to your accommodation in Reykjavík. After settling in, the rest of the day is free for you to explore the vibrant city centre with its abundance of museums, shops, restaurants and bars—most of which are in easy walking distance from your accommodation. This evening you can also experience the northern lights with a tour to the countryside, away from the glare of city lights (optional, can be added on request).*

    Spend the night in Reykjavík.

    * Please note that the northern lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.

  • Day 2: Lake Mývatn, Nature Baths & Northern Lights (Dec 30)

    Head to Reykjavik Domestic Airport for your 45-minute flight to Akureyri in North Iceland. After arriving, continue to your hotel and get ready for the afternoon’s exciting journey into the countryside.

    After lunchtime you will be picked up for a guided excursion around the Lake Mývatn area, with visits to Goðafoss waterfall, the eerie lava rocks of Dimmuborgir, the Grjótagjá rift-cave and Hverir (Námaskarð), a geothermal area of boiling mudpools and hot springs. Then you’ll enjoy a peaceful countryside dinner before visiting the Mývatn Nature Baths, a wonderful place to experience Iceland's geothermal bathing. On the return journey to Akureyri, your guide will take you on a search for the northern lights (if weather and other conditions are favourable).

    Spend the next three nights in Akureyri.

  • Day 3: Rural Akureyri & New Year's Eve Dinner (Dec 31)

    Start the day by exploring the Christmas traditions of rural Iceland with a guided tour to the countryside. During the tour, guests will visit local farmers to learn about the Icelandic way of living, meet farm animals and learn about Icelandic holiday customs in the Christmas Garden at Hrafnagil. Tonight you will ring in the New Year with a dinner with fellow travellers at the hotel, starting with an apertif at 6pm. After dinner we reccommend watching the fireworks display around town. And if you're in a party mood, you can continue your night out at one of the town’s clubs with music and dancing.

  • Day 4: Dettifoss Super Jeep Safari (Jan 1)

    Spend your New Year’s Day on a guided super-jeep excursion to Dettifoss, Europe's most powerful waterfall. Standing next to this 44 metre-high, 100 metre-wide cascade with its great surge of water rumbling into the canyon is an incredible experience. The rest of your afternoon and evening are free to enjoy Akureyri as you wish, perhaps with a walk in the historical centre along Hafnarstræti and Aðalstræti, two streets lined with well-maintained old houses and Christmas decorations.

  • Day 5: Leisure Day in Reykjavik (Jan 2)

    Head to Akureyri Airport for your return flight to Reykjavik. The rest of your day is then free to explore Reykjavik and its surroundings at your leisure. There are also plenty of exciting optional activities and day tours to choose from.

Outstanding and Knowledgeable

It was a last minute decision to visit Iceland especially when the volcano eruption was in the horizon. Jelena, our trip advisor was very patient and considerate. I would strongly recommend Nordic Visitor due to the following:
1- Fast response and friendly staff;
2- Knowledgeable;
3- The tour package was very comprehensive beyond expectation and flexible;
4- Every single detail was included and activities were carefully selected;
5- The accommodation location and comfort level was great.
We received the itinerary 2 days before we traveled to Iceland and once we reached everything was in order. No through study was required and we didn't miss anything.

Iceland 2013

I used Nordic Visitor for a trip to Iceland in 2013 for my 10 year old son and I. I knew what I wanted to see and experience on our trip. Nordic Visitor took my list and created a wonderful customized itinerary. Everything was perfect and all arrangements were flawless. I was pleasantly surprised! If you are going to Iceland, I highly recommend working with this group. They are professional, polite, timely and know Iceland!

Sleep soundly, in the accommodation type of your choice, and wake up ready to enjoy another day of exploration.
