Iceland's least populous municipality!
This cove with its hamlet of the same name, is situated in Árneshreppur, Iceland’s least populous municipality.
Largely unoccupied, the big draw of Norðurfjörður is Krossneslaug, a great outdoor swimming pool on the pebble beach at Krossnes, which provides one of the most memorable experiences that Iceland has to offer. Natural springs provide a continuous source of hot water feeding the pool.
On a good day, climb Mount Kalfshamarstindur (646 m) for an excellent view over the Northern Strandir District and Húnafjörður. This will occupy a good part of the day and good hiking shoes are required.
