  • Day 1: Welcome to Reykjavik & Northern Lights

On arrival to Keflavik International Airport, you will be greeted by a professional driver who will take you to your accommodation in Reykjavík. After settling in, the rest of the day is free for you to explore Reykjavik. You can stroll the charming capital city, visit museums, and explore landmarks. Downtown Reykjavík offers numerous excellent restaurants, cafés, coffeehouses, and bars, for those who want to experience the renowned Reykjavík nightlife.

In the evening, get ready to search for the otherworldly northern lights. You will join a guided small group bus tour with a knowledgeable driver that will find a great spot to view the white, green and sometimes red lights dancing and flickering in the sky.

Spend the next four nights in Reykjavik.

  • Day 2: Visiting the Blue Lagoon

Today, you will be picked up for a visit to the famous Blue Lagoon. Relax in the heated geothermal pool, which is rich with silica and soothing for your skin. You can also enjoy some time in a sauna or steam bath as well as an array of spa services (which must be booked in advance).

If you are up for more adventure, you can book a northern lights excursion. For instance, you could take a northern lights boat tour, to escape the bright city lights of Reykjavík and go hunting for the majestic lights dancing in the night sky.

  • Day 3: The Golden Circle - Geysers & Waterfalls

Today you will visit some of Iceland’s most famous attractions with a guided personal small group tour of the classic “Golden Circle” route in South Iceland. One of the many highlights on this journey is Þingvellir National Park, a place of great historical and geological significance that is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Þingvellir is the site of the country’s first parliament and is located along the edge of the great rift created by the drifting of the Eurasian and American tectonic plates. Other attractions include the beautiful two-tiered Gullfoss waterfall and the spouting hot springs of Geysir. While Geysir lies dormant, its neighbour Strokkur erupts every few minutes, gushing steam and water from the bowels of the earth. A taste of Icelandic food and drink is included during the tour.

    Spend the night in Reykjavik.

  • Day 4: New Year's Eve Festivities in Reykjavík

This morning your Icelandic New Year's Eve experience begins with a local guide showing you some of the main highlights of downtown Reykjavík, allowing you to take part in local traditions. You will have a chance to taste some local food, admire the city's Christmas decorations and enjoy fireworks that the guide will set off. You then have the afternoon to spend at your leisure.

Tonight, you will attend an exclusive New Year’s Eve party hosted by Nordic Visitor and Héðinn Kitchen & Bar. This New Year’s celebration takes place at a beautiful venue in the Grandi district, in the heart of downtown Reykjavík. Mix and mingle with other guests over an apéritif and then enjoy a gourmet 3-course dinner, paired with selected wines, and live entertainment during your meal. Afterwards, you and fellow dinner guests will be taken to a large neighbourhood bonfire to celebrate with Icelanders. You will then return to Héðinn Kitchen & Bar for dessert, sparkling wine and the exciting countdown to the New Year. Once the event finishes, you can head to the city centre and continue the party, like the locals, with music and dancing late into the night.

  • Day 5: Departure from Iceland

Your winter getaway to Iceland has come to an end, and you will have a semi-private transfer from your accommodation to Keflavik International Airport. If you are departing in the afternoon and are interested in adding an optional activity, please arrange with your travel consultant in advance, as there are a limited number of activities available due to the holiday.

Tour Information

We recommend that all our travellers read through the following information about what the tour includes, what to pack for your holiday and useful information about the activities that are included during the tour.

The itinerary is based upon arrival in Iceland on 28 December. For arrivals on the 29 and 30 December, we will modify the itinerary to fit perfectly with your travel dates. This means you will be able to enjoy your stay in Iceland to the fullest.

All accommodations and planned activities (as specified in the itinerary) will be pre-booked by Nordic Visitor. This is a self-guided tour, with no dedicated tour guide for the duration of your stay. For each planned activity, you can expect a different tour operator and guide, and you will have free time between activities. Nordic Visitor works with a small group of handpicked suppliers that are highly rated and deliver excellent service that meet our high standards.

Travellers can choose to add-on selected optional activities when booking online. Customers can also choose to upgrade bus tours to super jeep tours. It is also possible to add-on extra nights to packages along with customising the tours to client needs.

Please note that the Blue Lagoon is busier than usual during the holiday season, we will be booking your entrance at a specific time with a specific duration at the lagoon. If you would prefer a different departure time, please inform your travel consultant as soon as possible.

Please note that your scheduled transfer to the Blue Lagoon can be on a coach bus, with up to 70 fellow travellers.

The minimum age requirement for children at the Blue Lagoon is 2-years old. It is mandatory for children aged 2 to 8 to wear inflatable armbands while in the lagoon. These are provided free of charge. Please note that only two (2) children under the age of 10 can be admitted into the lagoon per guardian.

The best months to experience the northern lights are October through April, with peak visibility from December through February. Please note that as the northern lights are a natural phenomenon, we cannot guarantee sightings even if the tour is operated.

Please be advised that daylight is limited in Iceland during the winter months, with 4-5 hours of daylight from December to January. However, fresh snowfall often gives the appearance of more light, and it is common that houses, streets and businesses are lit up with Christmas lights, so don't fear that you will be travelling in complete darkness.

Although the winter climate in Iceland is generally mild compared to other northern European countries, the temperature can drop below freezing at times. Please bring windproof and waterproof outerwear and plenty of warm layers. Please note that the programme is dependent upon weather and road conditions, and may be altered if conditions are not favourable. For information on weather conditions and daylight hours we recommend visiting our extensive Online Travel Guide

All bookings are charged in Icelandic Króna (ISK), the official currency of Iceland. Prices displayed in other currencies are indicative only and based on the daily exchange rate as issued by the Central bank of Iceland. Therefore, conversions from ISK to other currencies will fluctuate from day to day.

After booking your package with Nordic Visitor, you will be contacted within two business days by one of our travel consultants, who will serve as your dedicated contact person for all of your travel needs before, during and even after your holiday. Your travel consultant will provide you with details about your booking and your remaining payment (if not paid in full). You will also receive more information about what to expect during your holi
