Iceland's second-highest waterfall
The Hengifossá river feeds two dramatic waterfalls, one of which, Hengifoss, is the third highest in the country at 118 metres. This spectacular waterfall cascades into a dramatic gorge and is easy to access from the main road. Below Hengifoss is a smaller waterfall, Litlanesfoss, which is remarkable for its columnar basalt setting. Both are well worth a visit.
