Iceland's third-highest waterfall
The Hengifossá river feeds two dramatic waterfalls, one of which, Hengifoss, is among the highest in the country at 128 metres (420 feet). This spectacular waterfall cascades into a dramatic gorge and is easy to access from the main road. Below Hengifoss is a smaller waterfall, Litlanesfoss, which is remarkable for its columnar basalt setting. Both are well worth a visit.
