  • Day 1: BLUE LAGOON & FREE TIME IN REYKJAVIK

At Keflavík Airport you will be met by a driver who will take you promptly to the Blue Lagoon for a refreshing post-flight geothermal spa experience. Soaking in the warm, mineral-rich waters, surrounded by black lava rocks, with a mud mask on your face and beverage in hand, you’ll feel warmly welcomed to Iceland. Afterwards your driver will take you to your accommodation in Reykjavik.

The rest of the day is free for you to go out and explore the city centre, full of shops, cafes, art galleries, museums and great walking paths to suit all tastes. Likewise, there are numerous downtown restaurants with a variety of cuisines to satisfy any taste buds, including Iceland’s specialties — locally-sourced grilled lamb and fresh seafood. And of course there are some good Icelandic micro-beers to taste if you wish to sample the Reykjavik nightlife.

    Spend the night in Reykjavík.

  • Day 2: GOLDEN CIRCLE & LANGJÖKULL GLACIER

Your guide will pick you up and begin your private 4x4 jeep safari with a drive around the “Golden Circle”, a popular tourist route containing some of the country’s most famous attractions. First is a visit to the UNESCO-listed Þingvellir National Park, located on the plains of the North Atlantic Rift. Here you’ll be able to walk in the footsteps of Vikings, as this beautiful area is where early settlers founded the country’s parliament over 1,000 years ago.

Next you will get to see hot springs erupt at the Haukadalur geothermal area, home of the original Geysir geyser and the more active Strokkur, followed by a visit to the two-tiered Gullfoss waterfall and a short walk to get closer to the roaring, misty cascade. From there, the journey continues to Langjökull, the second largest glacier in Europe, before ending in the location of your overnight destination.

Spend the night in the Golden Circle area.

  • Day 3: HIGHLAND SAFARI & LANDMANNALAUGAR HOT SPRINGS

Today you will understand why a 4x4 jeep with massive tires comes in handy, as you journey into the rugged “no man’s land” of the interior highlands. This drive takes you on a rough mountain road through the Þjórsárdalur valley, once a prosperous farmland until it was devastated by an eruption from one of Iceland’s most active volcanoes, Mt Hekla, in 1104.

Along the way there will be a stop at the Hjálparfoss waterfall before reaching the otherworldly Landmannalaugar area, where you can bathe in a secluded hot spring pool in pristine natural surroundings. After the refreshing soak, you will head back to the south coast with a view to the notorious Mt Hekla, which in the old days was believed to be an entrance to Hell.

Spend the night in the south coast area.

  • Day 4: SOUTH COAST WATERFALLS & DEPARTURE

You will need to get early start this morning to take in all the amazing sights! On today’s drive are some of the best-known natural wonders in South Iceland, including the spectacular waterfalls of Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss – each with a pathway leading you alongside (or even behind!) the misty, roaring cascade. And no trip to the south coast is complete without a visit to the black volcanic beach near the town of Vík, where you will have a great view of the stunning Dyrhólaey cape and the Reynisdrangar basalt sea stacks.

After the fantastic sightseeing your guide will take you back to Keflavík International Airport for your departure flight.

*Please note that the service of the tour guide concludes in the afternoon. We can modify the activities of this day accordingly for evening departure flights. If your return flight is in the morning we can add an additional night in Reykjavik before your departure.

Reviews

We don’t like to brag, so we’ll let our happy customers do it for us.

Most professional and efficient service ever

From when we first made inquiries about visiting Iceland, we got the most professional and efficient service that we've EVER received before. We couldn't fault any aspect of the 3 weeks we spent in Iceland.

Iceland Wonderland

My grown daughters and I set up a 12 day South Island Tour with Kristin of Nordic Visitor. She was very accommodating. We added a couple of days and requested specific hotels. The trip was very successful. Our expectations were more than met. Kristin worked with us continuously during the planning and execution phases. She answered emails immediately. Her knowledge about places to see during our journey was amazing, even where to find remote Hot Pots. She and her staff helped make our trip very enjoyable.
