Take in the Westfjords and all its seaside glory at Malarhorn Guesthouse

Malarhorn is a guesthouse located in the Westfjords in the fishing village of Drangsnes. As you drive into this remote region, you’ll pass the village of Hólmavík before heading east to a smaller peninsula where you’ll find Malarhorn.

The complex that started with only one house in 2007 now encompasses 3 houses that can welcome up to 50 people. The range of accommodation includes double and twin bedrooms as well as self-catering lodgings and apartments.

On-site you’ll also find a restaurant, Malarkaffi, where breakfast and dinner are served during the summer.

This family-run business prides itself on its welcoming and personal service. You may even be lucky enough to hear stories and songs performed by the owners and staff during dinner or in the communal lounge. Here you’ll also find an art exhibit showcasing local artists.

  • Good to know: Your personal travel consultant at Nordic Visitor will book you into a room at Malarhorn Guesthouse that’s suited to you. Don’t hesitate to speak to them about any preferences you may have.

From this seaside guesthouse, you’ll be able to admire the Greenland Sea and Grimsey Island Nature Reserve on the horizon. The owners of Malarhorn also operate boat tours and wildlife cruises.

A stone’s throw away from the guesthouse you’ll find the Drangsnes swimming pool and the village’s famous hot tubs (“hot pots”).
