A hiker's paradise
Víknaslóðir is a popular hiking area in Borgarfjörður Eystri, in the east of Iceland. All hiking routes in the area are clearly marked and range from day-hikes to multi-day excursions.
The scenery in the area is varied and mountainous, allowing hikers to encounter everything from black sand deserts and green valleys to pink- and orange-tinted rhyolite mountain ranges.
Anybody planning on hiking in Iceland is advised to contact ICE-SAR to assure that they are well prepared for the weather conditions and that all trails and paths are open and in good condition. Never embark on a hike out of season.
