A natural gem in West Iceland
The area around Húsafell farm is a very popular summer resort with a charming wooded lava area where you’ll discover a pleasant swimming pool and sauna, horse rental and organised walks as well as chalets and camping areas. Not surprisingly, it is one of Iceland’s most popular tourist attractions.
You can also take advantage of longer tours, such as glacier excursions and lava cave explorations. The natural hot water for the swimming pool is naturally healing and is piped from the hot springs in the Selgil gorge nearby. The waterfall Barnafoss is above a walking bridge at Hraunfossar.
The Hraunfossar Falls are clear, cold springs that well up through the lava and run in falls and rapids into the Hvítá River Barnafoss takes its name from two boys who fell into the waterfall, according to the legend.View West Iceland
