Upon arrival at Keflavík International Airport, you will be greeted by a private chauffeur in the arrivals hall who will drive you to your well-appointed hotel in downtown Reykjavík. If you are arriving early, you will have the option of an early check-in (this needs to be arranged with your travel consultant in advance).  After settling in, take the opportunity to explore the vibrant city centre at you own pace. The high street, Laugavegur, offers a variety of shops, galleries, restaurants, coffee houses and bars to suit all tastes – all within an easy walk. Spend the rest of the evening at your leisure.

Spend the night at the Canopy by Hilton Reykjavík City Centre (King Junior Suite).

Start the day by meeting your private driver-guide after breakfast at your hotel before beginning your journey to the idyllic Icelandic countryside. First, you’ll pass by the bountiful Borgarfjörður area on the west coast of Iceland. Sights along the way include the twin waterfalls Hraunfossar and Barnafoss along with the Deildartunguhver hot spring.

Next you’ll head to Langjökull glacier where you will experience a truly icy adventure, venturing inside a glacier! During this unique tour, you will have the chance to experience the actual ice in Iceland, with a guided group tour inside the island's second largest glacier. An enormous, modified truck, outfitted for the glacier, will transport you to the manmade tunnel, which exposes the beautiful blue ice and allows you to see crevasses and the glacier's unique characteristics.

After the tour enjoy a relaxing time at the charming Hotel Húsafell, located in scenic surroundings, before visiting the heavenly Húsafell Canyon Baths. At night, now that you’re in the countryside, be sure to step outside your hotels each night and see if the northern lights decided to make an appearance. The remote location of most of your hotels is ideal!

If you would like to add more adventure to the day, you can opt for a snowmobiling tour on Langjökull combined with Into the Glacier, or a private helicopter ride from Reykjavík to the glacier on Langjökull.

Spend the night at Hótel Húsafell (Deluxe).

Average Driving Distance: 180 km / 111 mi.
Average Travel & Exploring Duration: 8-9 hours

Into The Glacier Adventure on Langjökull (2-4 hours est).

    * Please note that the northern lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Today's journey brings you up close and personal with some of Iceland’s most popular south Iceland attractions along the classic Golden Circle route.

Start with a visit to the fascinating Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If it‘s snowy you will see its charming winter look! Here, you can walk on a path in the rift valley between the North American and Eurasion tectonic plates and learn about the first site of Iceland's democracy.

Next on the route is the Haukadalur geothermal area, where you can see Geysir – the original “geyser” – and its more active neighbour Strokkur, which spouts water and steam metres into the air every few minutes.

End the day’s adventure with a visit to the two-tiered, roaring Gullfoss waterfall, one of Iceland’s most memorable sights, before journeying on to your premium hotel for the night.

Spend the night at Hotel Geysir (Suite).

This morning your guide will take the scenic route to two beautiful waterfalls along the south coast, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss.

Seljalandsfoss is situated along the Seljalandsá river where the waterway plummets 40 metres over a cliff face. It is unique among waterfalls, as the shape of the cliff allows visitors to walk behind the chute via a footpath at the base of the falls. Be careful as it can be slippery in winter!

Nearby, Skógafoss is a magnificent 60-metre-high waterfall and one of Iceland’s most photogenic landmarks. The fall produces a lot of mist and so rainbows are a common sight on sunny days.

Before arriving at the village of Vík, you will visit the black volcanic beach south of the village, from where you can view the unique rock formations Dyrhólaey and Reynisdrangar.

Spend the night at Hotel Magma (Deluxe).

Today your guide will drive to the magnificent Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, located in the far south-east corner of Iceland. This is one of Iceland’s best known and most photographed locations where you will see towering icebergs bob and glide in the water. Don’t miss the view of the snowy towering mountains!

Afterwards you will stop by the Diamond Beach, where you will see chunks of ice glistening on the black sands.

Spend the night at Fosshótel Vatnajökull (Suite).

Your guide will take you along East Iceland today, an area is characterized by spectacular fjords, tranquil fishing villages, rugged tundra and sweeping landscapes. We recommend a stop by the Vök Baths, a relaxing, geothermal destination.

End the day in the area of Egilsstaðir, where you will find the monster habitat Lagafljót and Hallormsstaðarskógur forest, the largest wooded area in Iceland.

Spend the night at Lake Hotel Egilsstaðir – Superior room.

Continue north towards today’s destination: the otherworldly Lake Mývatn area. On the way, you’ll stop by the mighty Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall in all of Europe. This part of North Iceland boasts an abundance of unusual natural wonders to explore, like the Krafla volcano and the curiously-coloured Námaskarð pass.

Finally, end the day by relaxing in the geothermal waters of the Mývatn Nature Baths. If the sky is clear, you may even see the majestic northern lights light up above you.*

Spend the first half of the day around Lake Mývatn before your guide takes you to Akureyri. On the way, you’ll stop by the majestic Goðafoss (“The Waterfall of the Gods”). In Akureyri, the capital of the north Iceland, we recommend taking a stroll in the city centre and soaking in the culture. For a great photo opportunity, follow the steps to the charming main church. In Akureyri you will also find restaurants and shops for something a little extra.

Spend the night at Hótel KEA (Suite).

Today you will fly back from Akureyri to Reykjavík onboard a domestic, commercial flight with Air Iceland Connect. After the last few days of adventure on the road, it’s time to relax, unwind and enjoy the natural surroundings in the lava fields dotting the Reykjanes peninsula. At the Retreat Spa you will be able to visit both the exclusive Retreat Lagoon, the world-renowned Blue Lagoon and enjoy the Blue Lagoon skin care amenities. Let us help you make this the tour of your dreams, according to your specific needs and interests. This itinerary is an example of what we offer luxury clients, but packages can be customised with extra nights, optional activities and other changes to the itinerary. Please contact us for details. All accommodation and planned activities (as specified in the itinerary) will be pre-booked by Nordic Visitor.

The Kaldidalur is a highland route that is typically open from the first week of June, depending on weather and road conditions. Travellers arriving earlier, will most likely have to take another road with their guide. The driver, will of course, make stops at scenic sites, regardless of the road taken.

The Retreat at the Blue Lagoon offers entry to the Retreat Spa and the Blue Lagoon. Guests will have access to the Blue Lagoon Ritual, as well as skin care amenities and the original Blue Lagoon. The hallmark of the luxury experience, The Ritual, is based on the healing powers of the Blue Lagoon’s three natural wonders: silica, algae, and minerals. In a spacious sanctuary of three interconnected chambers, you cover your body with Icelandic geothermal seawater.

Please note that we cannot guarantee the accommodation at the Blue Lagoon Retreat to be available when you book so we might need to adjust your itinerary due to limited availability at the Retreat or offer you a different option if it is fully booked for your travel dates.

Please note that sightseeing is dependent on weather and road conditions and might need to be altered if conditions are not favourable. For more information on weather conditions and daylight hours and daylight hours, we recommend visiting Nordic Visitor’s Online Travel Guide.
